Bilingual Storytime

First Songs

There was a special guest this morning at the Aldine Library's Bilingual Storytime. Ms. Sandra from the Houston Grand Opera (HGO) came to present "First Songs." She taught moms and dads how to sing, read and play with their children in a meaningful, creative and fun way. Thanks for coming, Sandra!

Para los Niños this Monday @ 4 PM

Para los NinosJoin us this Monday, March 24th, at 4:00 PM in the Children's Activity Room for our special Para los Niños program!  This family program serves parents whose first language is Spanish and is provided for free by the Children's Museum of Houston.  Everyone is welcome so come enjoy a great story, some activities, and have fun learning!

National Read Across America Day (Dr. Seuss Day) 2014

The National Education Association's Read Across America Day is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on or near March 2nd—Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Now in it's 17th year, the NEA's Read Across America Day focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books.  

The Aldine Library is celebration Read Across Day on Thursday, March 6th at the 10:30 AM Bilingual Storytime. All children are welcome to come and  enjoy Dr. Seuss books through activities, games and crafts.

Opera Cat

If you were in the Aldine Library on the morning of January 20th, 2011, you may have heard some opera singing in the building! Ms. Cecilia Duarte of Houston Grand Opera was on hand to read “OPERA CAT" by Tess Weaver at the Aldine Library's Bilingual Storytime. Ms. Duarte presented the book through storytelling and song in English and Spanish. The performance was a real treat for the children and parents in attendance.
