Friends of the Library Plea

Coming soon is the book sale which will be April 26, 2014.
We are asking those who have an interest in bringing donated books, to donate Adult fiction and Children books. The books are needed before the sale. This is the last sale before the summer reading program. The funds will be used to support the summer programs we have planned for all of our patrons.

Help out your local public library! Look into your personal book collection and choose your gently used books to donate. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Do your spring cleaning and remember Northwest Branch Library!

Turtle Transition

Aquatic TurtleOur Turtles are transitioning to a new home the Friday, May 10th. We love Big Mike and Raphael but they have grown too much to keep in the small tank we have here at Northwest.  Our space for tanks is limited at the library so they will be going home with me at the end of this week.

Big Mike is already in his new home and Raphael will be joining him on Friday. I know we'll all miss them at the library but they are more comfortable in a larger environment with more space to swim and move freely.

Be sure to stop in and say goodbye to Raphael before he joins Big Mike in their new home!

Extreme Makeover: Turtle Edition

Have you stopped by to visit our turtles yet? If you haven't, no worries, our reptilian friends will be here for a while. Our two little guys have been through a lot since moving to the library. A new place, strange faces, and new friends can be rough for two tiny turtles. Luckily, they have adapted very well. Recently, they have had an extreme home makeover.  Their comfy home was looking a little too much like a swamp so we decided it was makeover time. Moving old stuff out and new stuff in was no easy task, but let me just say that I think they really enjoy their new  environment. Big Mike has finally broken out of his shell, and is such a gentlemen now. Little Rafa is still the attention lover and go-getter. They love when visitors come to say hi and still like to pose for the camera. So don't be turtle shy and come and say hello. They won't bite, I promise.
