Mexican Foil Art Craft

Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to recognize the contributions made by Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States. It is also a time to celebrate their heritage and culture. Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15th and ends on October 15, and what better way to celebrate a culture than to explore some of their art and traditions. Come join us here at High Meadows Library on Monday September 29th at 4:00 p.m. for our Mexican Foil Art Project. Try your hand at making this beautiful traditional art and enjoy some snacks and refreshments as well.

Create a Puerto Rican Carnival Mask

During our Hispanic Heritage celebration, each child will have the opportunity to create a Puerto Rican carnival mask! We will also be sharing a few of our favorite books that are reflective of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Multicultural programs such as this, help children to develop a better understanding that their world is larger than their community, and enriches the lives of everyone. You will not want to miss this program. * Online registration is required.

This weekend: Business Seminar and Hispanic Dancers!

On Friday, October 4th, the library is hosting the second in the Business Success Seminar series. This month we are featuring Daniel Kainer, an LSC professor and small business owner who will be introducing Amazon.com’s Fulfillment sales program. Mr. Kainer will show you had you can create and build this program to sell your own products.

On Saturday, October 5th, as part of Hispanic Heritage month, the Tierra de Mis Raíces Dancers will perform dances from a number of Latin American countries—and then they will teach us how to dance with them. That’s at 1 p.m. in the library lobby.

Marketing to the Hispanic Community

LSC-Tomball Community Library and the Lone Star College Small Business Development Center proudly begin a third season of Business Success Seminars Friday, March 1st with Maria Tapias, Group Account Director with Lopez Negrete Communications. Tapias will light up the new season with a seminar about Marketing to the Hispanic Community.

Lopez Negrete Communications is an independent, Hispanic owned and operated full service agency specializing in Hispanic marketing. As Tapias remarks, the Hispanic community is "...a world all its own, with different textures and tastes, rhythms and hues."

This year's Business Success seminars are especially timed to begin right after each monthly Chamber of Commerce meeting, a meeting that takes place the first Friday of the month in the Beckendorf Center in the East Building of LSC-Tomball. The seminars will happen just around the corner in Room E178. There is no registration and no registration fee for the seminars, and everyone is welcome. That's 2:15 p.m., Friday, March 1st.
