Hurricane Preparedness: Are You Ready?

When:  Tuesday, September 22, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  Where:  The Galena Park Branch Library.  The Hurricane season is upon us, and after last year, we all know that it pays to be prepared.  Are you ready?  Are you aware and vigilant.  With this in mind, mark your calendars and come to the library to meet with representatives from the Harris County Office of Emergency Management as they will present a free program to discuss how to be better prepared should another Ike make it's way to Southeast Texas.  Interactive Hurricane Tracking Charts as well as emergency checklists and other items will be provided.

READY FOR ANOTHER HURRICANE?

Disaster preparation experts from the Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management will offer a free hurricane preparedness workshop at the Fairbanks Library on Saturday, September 19, at 2:00 pm. They will show you what items should be included in your disaster emergency kit and how to set up your supply checklist. They will also explain what steps you should take if you are ordered to evacuate, show you your evacuation routes, and give you helpful phone numbers that you will need in case of a hurricane. In addition, they will teach you how to make a disaster plan for your family and how you can best protect your family and home. They will also answer questions from the audience. These workshops are open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend.
