On the Road Again

Bus 1_0Harris County Precinct 4’s Fun4Seniors program has partnered with the Fairbanks Library to offer monthly bus trips for individuals age 50 and better.  The July trip will be Wednesday, July 31, to the George (H. W.) Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station.  I have heard that everyone should visit this library, regardless of his or her political leanings.  The bus will depart from the library parking lot at 7:45 am and return about 4:45 pm.  Cost for this event is $8 per person, with lunch on your own at Cotton Patch Café.  For more information call 281-324-3373.  Before your registration can be confirmed, payment by check, payable to Fun4Seniors, must be received at the May Community Center, 2100 Wolf Road, Huffman, TX 77336.

Museum of Fine Arts @ North Channel

Rene LaliqueHave you noticed that the library is looking a little like a museum lately?  That's because we are lucky enough to  host a temporary exhibit from the Museum of Arts, Houston titled "A Passion for Glass" featuring the work of Rene Lalique (1860-1945), one of the most celebrated glass makers in the world.  Known for his Art Noveau and Art Deco style, Mr. Lalique is also recognized for modernizing and mass producing his art glass objects.  Don't miss this chance to check out this display up close.  The exhibit moves to the Kingwood Branch Library on February 4th.

All Aboard! to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston

This otherworldly view will be the privilege of fifty-five library customers who have signed up for the Museum of Fine Arts Houston's free bus trip to the museum this Saturday, February 4th. MFAH is sponsoring this trip in conjunction with its traveling exhibit, "A Passion for Glass", which wrapped up this week at the Tomball Library.

For those of you who have signed up, the bus will leave the library parking lot at 9:30 sharp. Any cancellations to the sold-out list will be filled at that time with those people on the waiting list who are at the bus.
