We Need Even More ESL Tutors

Ten weeks ago we wrote that our English as a Second Language programs were burgeoning and that we needed tutors. A number of people signed up and we’re so grateful. And now we need even more tutors because even more people are asking to learn English.

We need Tutors

Our English as a Second Language programs are burgeoning. Every week at the library we hold discussion groups that provide forums for practicing speaking English, and we also offer individual tutoring sessions--also at the library--at times convenient to the tutor and the student.

We're looking for more volunteers to tutor people who want to learn to speak, read, and write English. Are you interested? If you'd like to volunteer, please give Charity Martin a call at 832-559-4200.

Help Wanted!

We live in such a great community.  Katy gives to those in need with all their heart.  Our annual food drive is such a success and we always have plenty of volunteers to keep our library running.  Did you know there was even more you could do to make the Katy community an incredible place to live?

Right now, the Maud Marks Library needs ESL tutors.  We need people willing to teach adults English on a volunteer basis once a week for at least 9 months.  You don't need to be able to speak another language to teach ESL, in fact, we would prefer if you didn't!  All you need is a willingness to help new immigrants become acclimated with the American way of life.

We will be hosting a tutor training session on Saturday, March 19 at 9 AM.  There is no charge for the session or the training materials.  We'll even feed you lunch!
