1.21 Gigawatts!

flux capacitorAs the school year winds down and the heat outside climbs higher, Men in Black 3, the first of the big-budget summer blockbusters, hits theaters. Unbelievably, it has been fifteen years since Men in Black introduced Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as wildly popular agents keeping tabs on alien life on Earth. I am absurdly fond of Men in Black and can’t wait to see the newest addition to the franchise, where Agent J time travels back to the year 1969 to work with a younger, but delightfully recognizable, Agent K.

Time travel is just as much a science fiction trope as alien invasion and sentient robots, and it’s one I particularly love. Ever since I was a little girl, watching reruns of the Fourth Doctor gallivanting through space and time in his TARDIS, I have had a weakness for a good (or, frankly, bad) time travel plot. Fortunately, there are plenty to choose from, ranging from depressing (The Butterfly Effect) to hilarious (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure). Although I don’t want to tempt fate and sneak a peek at my own future, I wouldn’t turn down a ride in the DeLorean!

If you’re in the mood for a bit of time travel and can’t get your time machine working, browse the HCPL catalog and request a movie today!
