2014 Maverick Graphic Novel List

Do you have a reluctant reader at home? If so, this list might be for you. Since 2010, the Texas Library Association publishes an annual graphic novel reading list, known as the Maverick Graphic Novels Reading List, comprised of titles chosen by public and school librarians that are meant to encourage reading for grades 6-12. Listed below are titles that were chosen unanimously by the committee. Boxers and Saints by Gene Luen Yang. Critically acclaimed graphic novelist Gene Luen Yang presents readers a unique look at the Boxer Rebellion in these novels.

Adventures of Superhero Girl by Faith Erin Hicks. The life of a superhero is never easy, especially when you have ordinary chores and tasks to tend to. Get a laugh out of Hicks' latest story and be inspired to lead a life more supernatural.
