December Events for Children

       December will be a busy month in the Children's Department.  Here are some of the fun and festive programs for children to enjoy.

Monday, December  2 - children 5-12 years old will decorate a holiday picture frame at 4:30 pm.  Tickets for this free program will be given out starting 30 minutes before the starting time.

Monday, December 9 - Santa Claus visits Freeman Library from 5:30-7:00 pm.  Santa will be in our Rotunda area to meet children aged infant through 12 years old.  Parents are encouraged to bring a camera to take a picture of their child meeting Santa Claus.  Tickets are required and they will be distributed starting 30 minutes before the program.  The tickets will be numbered and Santa will see the children in numeric order.

Gingerbread House Decorating on Monday, December 16; Tuesday, December 17; and Wednesday, December 18 at 4:30 pm.  Freeman continues its annual tradition of decorating a gingerbread house.  The house is made with milk cartons (generously donated by Oak Farms Dairy) along with graham crackers, icing, candies and other edibles (generously donated by the Friends of Freeman Library).  Tickets are required.  They are free and given out starting 30 minutes before the program. 

In addition to these seasonal programs, the Children's Department offers regular storytime programs for children from infants through preschool age.  We have Toddler Time for children 18 months to 3 years on Mondays at 11:15 am and Tuesdays at 10:15 and 11:15 am.  Tickets are required.  They are free and given out at 10 for the 10:15 program and 10:45 for the 11:15 program.

We also have Preschool Storytime for children 3-5 years old on Tuesday and Wednesday at 1:30 pm.  Tickets are given out at 1:00 pm.  For babies from infants through 18 months old, we have Book Babies on Wednesday at 10:15 and 11:15 am.  Free tickets are given out at 10:00 am for the 10:15 program and 10:45 for the 11:15 am program.
