Fire Prevention Program for Families this Tuesday!

Come Meet Fire Investigator Tom Petty and K-9 Hunter!

Fire investigators Tom Petty and K-9 "Hunter" will be visiting the Atascocita Branch Library this Tuesday (Nov. 10th) at 4:00 pm. Come learn how to make your home environment a safe place for everyone.

  • Tom Petty and dog Hunter will stay after the program for photo opportunities. So, don't forget your camera!

While you are at the library you can checkout fun filled books to read at home. No Dragons for Tea is one of my person favorites. This book's rhyming text and humorous story is one that children will not forget.

No Dragons for Tea by Jean Pendziwol

Arthur's Fire Drill by Marc Brown

Stop Drop and Roll by Margery Cuyler

 Fire! Fire! by

 Fire Fighters by Paulette Bourgeois

Older kids might like to read The Great Fire by Jim Murphy. The great Chicago fire of 1871 is known as one of the largest catastrophes in American history.   This non-fiction book is full of action and drama.

P.s. If you are unable to attend this program, check out the site below from Scholastic books.  They have several activities that children will enjoy, such as, a fire-safety scavenger hunt.
