Birthdays are a time to celebrate. Since, Paul Fleischman's birthday was this month, I thought that it would be a great time to share a few of my favorite books by this author.
Paul Fleischman was awarded the Newbery Medal for his book: Joyful Noise: Poems for Two Voices in 1989. Undoubtedly, this is his most famous work. I admire this book, but it may surprise you that it is not one of my personal favorites.
My favorite book by Paul Fleischman is probably Seedfolks.
This is a small book containing only 69 pages, and I am sure that many have passed by it without consideration. However, it’s had an enormous effect on those whom have taken the time to read it. "The book (seedfolks) has been used in connection with school gardens at every level, performed by community theaters, and used in school-wide and district-wide reads." Paul Fleischman is a successful writer because he connects with his readers, and this work is a perfect example of that.
