Heart Health
February is American Heart Month. Harris County Public Library has a number of resources to answer questions about heart health. We subscribe to several health databases which offer articles on heart disease and health. Since we have one of the top medical centers here in the area, there are several excellent local resources for heart health information. Finally, we have listed some good starting points, sites about nutrition, sites for women, and books.
- Prevention and warning sign information from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
- Official site which includes information on diseases and conditions, warning signs, tools, and how to have a healthy lifestyle.
- Information on cardiovascular health from the Centers for Disease Control.
- Guides for patients and the general public from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
- Patient guides for heart related illnesses and disorders, nutrition guides, and heart attack symptoms.
- Sections include Ask the Doctor, Heart Health, Food News, and Heart Smart Recipes.
- Explore how the heart works, it's structure, and how to keep it healthy with diet and exercise.
