Help someone gain a skill that they can use in any aspect of life. North Channel Branch Library is seeking volunteer tutors to help adults improve basic reading and writing.
A training session will take place at the library on Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Afterwards, tutors will schedule once or twice weekly meetings with an adult student to work on phonics and word patterns using materials provided by the library. The training workshop is free and there are no requirements to volunteer, other than an interest in reading and three hours per week to help someone learn to read.
After the training session, tutoring can take place at any library or another location in the community, such as a church or community center.
To register for this workshop, or if you know of an adult who would like to improve his or her reading, please call for more information: Ph. 281-457-1631
