October is National Reading Group Month

Book clubA book club can be a great thing.  If you don’t believe it, there are some outstanding books you can read about book clubs, like Angry Housewives Eating Bon-bons and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.  A book club gives you a chance to spend time with people that are a lot like you, or people that are interesting to talk to because they’re different from you.  We have a group that was organized through the Fairbanks Library but meets at a restaurant each month instead of meeting at the library.  If you’re interested in joining us or starting your own group, you can look at the branch Events Calendar or the Friends of the Library bulletin board to see what we’re currently reading or you can read my 6/27/12 blog post for a list of the books we’ve read in the past.  In addition, HCPL’s web site has a book club page with information about what book clubs at the various other libraries are reading.  [Clipart © Microsoft.]
