Summer Reading Club Programs and Activities Are Over, However, There Is Still Plenty For Children To Do At The Library!

Catch the Reading Express Summer Reading Program and Activities officially ended Saturday, August 7th. Children are encouraged to visit the library to pick up their “railroads” before staff in children’s services removes them from the walls, doors and windows on Saturday, August 21st.

Although the reading program activities are finished there is still plenty for children to do at the library.
The final “Wednesday at the Movies” of the season takes place August 18th at 2:30pm in the Earl Elliott Room. A Disney Pixar film depicting the adventures of a loveable robot will be shown. Bring your blankie or a cuddly and enjoy the movie!
There is something happening at the library for school aged children every Tuesday afternoon at 4:30pm in the Robin Bush Room. Tuesday, August 17th features Silly Science: Bubbles, Bubbles, Bubbles! Tuesday, August 24th Game Day happens with children playing various assorted board games. Tuesday, August 31st is Movies Xtra! Day featuring an animated Disney film about an aspiring emperor and his groove! Also for school aged kids is an afterschool storytime at 4:30pm every Thursday afternoon in the Robin Bush Room.
We have not forgotten babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Storytimes for these young people take place every week year round. Schedules are available at the children’s information desk or check the Barbara Bush branch calendar at www.hcpl.net.
