Summer Time!

Yes, we still have a week left of school, but here at the Maud Marks Library, we just can't wait any longer for summer to start!  Everyone is invited to start signing up for our Summer Reading Club beginning on Monday.  Babies (up to 18 months) who's parents help them complete the summer reading club receive a free bib.  Children (up to the age of 12) who read 10 books or 500 minutes receive a free book and certificate.  Teens (ages 12-18) who read 5 books or 600 minutes receive free earbuds.  Adults (18+) who read 5 books or 600 minutes receive a free mug and an entry for other great prizes.

Of course, here at the Maud Marks Library, we have our ever popular annual genre challenge.  Children can receive entries for drawings for various puppets by reading books about birds, dinosaurs, mammals, marine life, or bugs.  Teens who read books in the various genres (nonfiction, fiction, mystery, graphic novels, and fantasy/sci-fi) receive entries for drawings for gift baskets of books with movie gift cards.  Adults who read 5 different genres from our list (fiction, nonfiction, science fiction, fantasy, westerns, horror, mystery, and romance) receive an entry for our grand prize book basket which includes a Kindle, a Katy Budget Books gift certificate, and movie tickets and food vouchers to the Alamo Drafthouse.

Of course, there's a lot more going on here than just the summer reading club.  We have Afternoon Adventures every Monday, computer classes and adult programs every Tuesday, teen crafts and activities every Thursday, and family movies on Fridays as well as our regular storytimes.  Check out everything we have to offer on our calendar.  Remember, everything underlined requires pre-registration.

See you this summer for all the fun!
