A coworker suggested the DVD Food, Inc.
and I watched it over the holidays. I will be making some small changes. A vegetable garden planted. Becoming more knowledgeable about which companies are treating animals and employees humanely. Limiting the amount of certain foods consumed.
Another DVD I watched recently is Temple Grandin
. This excellent movie stars Claire Danes
and is based on the true story of the title character, a woman with autism who used her gifted mind to help make the slaughter of animals more humane. The description from the HCPL catalog reads: “An engaging portrait of an autistic young woman who became, through timely mentoring and sheer force of will, one of America’s most remarkable success stories.”
As the vegetable garden is prepared in the backyard, I will be using materials from the library to guide me.
How about you? What projects do you want to accomplish in 2011? The library has materials to help!
