Volunteer ESL Tutors needed

Are you interested in giving back to your community?  The Harris County Library is looking for individuals who are interested in tutoring English As A Second Language (ESL) students at the North Channel Library and other Harris County Library branches.  A training session will be held for potential tutors at the North Channel Library on Saturday, August 28th from 9 am to 12:30 pm.   You do not need to speak a second language in order to help someone learn to read, write, and speak English.  To register for this training session, please sign up at the library and fill out a Workshop Registration Form located at the customer service desk.   For more information, please call us at the library at (281) 457-1631.

My library branch is

My library branch is "Kingwood". Are there any tutoring opportunities at my branch? May I be trained at North Channel and be matched up with a student at Kingwood?

Thank you for your interest

Thank you for your interest in volunteering!  Yes, after you are trained, you may request to be matched up with a student at any Harris County Library branch, including Kingwood.  When you attend the training, our Literacy Coordinator, Steve Zach, will work with you to arrange your tutoring sessions with a student at your library branch.   If you would like to attend this upcoming training session at North Channel, please let us know.  You will need to fill out a workshop application which I can fax to you if you are unable to come to the branch before hand.
