History of the Harris County Public Library

During the month of February, we have a unique display in our display case.  It is a series of images of the Harris County Public Libary from 1921 to 1929.  See what the bookmobiles looked like that brought books to customers all over the county.  Come and see this early history of Harris County Public Library!

Do You Want to Know a Secret?

The Galena Park Branch will once again be an early voting location.  Traditionally, not a lot of people come to our branch to cast their vote.  Based on my experience at Galena Park, voters can come and vote with relative ease.  Voters should be able to be in and out well within five minutes.  Make sure to bring your friends, family, and neighbors to vote.  I am proud to announce that we have the same Early Voting crew comming back and they would like to have your voting business.  They would like to visit with their old friends and make new friends.  I would like to invite every registered voter to come and vote at our branch.  While visiting the branch, make sure to brouse through the ever growing collection of books and DVD's that are available for checkout.  If you do not have a library card, be sure to apply for one.  That too also takes just only a few minutes and it is FREE!!

Para Los Niños How Your Child Learns

The Galena Park Branch is offering a program called Para Los Ninos - For the Children.  This is an excellent program that is designed to stimulate intaraction between parent and child.  The parent and child workshops are designed for families with children ages 3 to 7 years. Parents will also be introduced to simple, inexpensive activities to do at home with their children to help their children learn.

The IRS Tax Forms, Instructions, and Publications are Here!!

Most of the Branch's IRS Tax Forms for tax year 2009 have arrived.  The tax forms are available to the general public and are located in the lobby of the Galena Park Branch.  While we tried to get the most popular forms, there are a few that we do not have or some that are in an extremely limited supply.  Feel free to also visit the IRS Website to download other necessary Tax Forms.  The branch also possesses a few books of prior year reproducible tax forms.
