Footprints and magnifying glassThe Summer Reading Program will start soon and we want everyone to be a part of it. Your Jacinto City Library will be offering programs for children, teens, and adults. You can click here to see an online calendar of all the fun and free events that will be offered at your library. Remember to sign up starting June 4. The program will end August 11 and we do offer a few goodies here and there, but you will have to sign up to find out what they are. Our first events will be:

Adults, Adult SRP Sign Up! on Tuesday (June 5) 11:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m.

Children, Gismo the Robot on Wednesday (June 6) 3:00 p.m. till 4:00 p.m.

Teens, Henna Tattoo Party on Thursday (June 7) 6:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m.

Computer Classes at JC

Seniors' computer classes are every Tuesday at 10 a.m.
English computer classes are on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and Thursday at 11 a.m.
 Clases de computación en español son los martes a las 11 a.m. y los jueves a las 5 p.m.

Calendars with the date and time of class are available at the library upon request. There is no need to register for class in order to attend. Please feel free to call us at (713)673-3237 if you have any questions.

Courses include: Computer Basics, Mouse and Keyboard Practice, Internet, Email, Facebook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Resume and Online Job Applications, as well as help with eReaders and our digital catalog.

Asian Pacific Heritage Program

asian archMay is designated as Asian Pacific Heritage month to celebrate and acknowledge the contribution of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to history in the United States. Your Jacinto City Library invites you to join us on

Thursday, May 10 at 6 p.m.

for a movie and snacks to celebrate Asian culture. The program is a family event.

Today in History: The Freedom Tower

Freedom Tower under constructionConstruction for the new One World Trade Center in New York City started April 27, 2006. This new building, commonly known as the Freedom Tower, will stand at 1,776 feet to commemorate the year of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. Once it is finished, the new World Trade Center will be the third tallest building in the world. The building is expected to open by 2013.
