Chinese Brush Painting

One of the great things about Kingwood is the number of local patrons, clubs and organizations who are always eager to make use of the library to share their interests and talents with the rest of the community.  One of the ways in which they share is through our lobby display case.  Courtesy of Kingwood resident John Estes, we currently are pleased to have showcased through the month of May Chinese brush art, which was painted by Rose Marie Estes.  If you take a look, you just might get interested in this art form yourself and decide to check out some of the titles we have on the subject, which can be found in a catalog listing

Rain Garden at the Library – Junior Girl Scout Bronze Project

Junior Girl Scout Troop 9295, a scout troop of nine 4th grade girls, chose the Kingwood Branch Library as the location to build a rain garden needed for the completion of their Bronze Award project.  This project focused on gardening and providing a benefit to the community.

As Kingwood Garden Club has been so active in the Kingwood community and the gardens at the Kingwood Library, it seemed like a perfect fit to have the girls receive guidance from the Garden Club.  Nancy Giffhorn, Kingwood Garden Club member, gave suggestions, answered questions and was on hand Sunday afternoon, May 15th, during the actual work on the flower bed as it was transformed into a rain garden bed.
