Wear Your Pajamas to the Library!

Person in pajamasAs many of you know, the Evelyn Meador (EV) branch library in Seabrook was badly damaged during Hurricane Ike; a new library is currently being built. In the meantime, we at La Porte are pleased to have Ms. Pearson, the Children’s Librarian at EV, hosting a Pajama Story Time every Wednesday evening at 7 pm at the La Porte library. Come to hear family bedtime stories and be sure to wear your pajamas! For all ages! See you then…Wednesdays at 7 pm in La Porte.

HISTORY ON MICROFILM

History buffs  and students this blog entry is for you. La Porte Community Library is a repository for back issues of the old Houston Post and the Houston Chronicle on microfilm. We have the Houston Post from January 1, 1976 through April 18, 1995. We have the Houston Chronicle from January 1, 1976 through May 23, 2000. You may view any of these issues on the microfilm reader/printer which was donated to the Library by the Friends of the La Porte Library. The Library also has the local newspaper Bayshore Sun on microfilm from March 22, 1962 through December 30, 2007.

Please Help Fill the Gaps

Gaps in years of high school annuals owned by La Porte Library

As mentioned in a previous post, our library collection of La Porte High School annuals is incomplete; we do not own a copy of every year. If you have an old annual you wouldn’t mind donating to the library, we are missing these years:

-Anything prior to 1939
-1940-1946
-1951 & 1952
-1954
-1958
-1961
-1971

The annual for 1971 would be especially welcome! Thank you for your support of our community library.
