Happy Asian Pacific Heritage Month!

Last Saturday at the Maud Marks Library, we had a BLAST!!!  It was time for our annual Asian Pacific Heritage Festival.  We kicked off the day with bonsai trees, a diayas craft, and Vietnamese music.  We also had a Japanese Tea Ceremony, belly dancing, a Rangoli demonstration, lei making, Japanese AND Chinese calligraphy, origami, and of course, lots of food!  The highlight of the day was a Vietnamese lion dance complete with silliness.  A great time was had by all.  Click here to see more photos.

Storytime Schedule

Just in case you were wondering.....all of our weekly storytimes remain the same during the month of May and through out the summer months.  Our infant storytime is for ages 3-18 months and meets on Thursday at 10:15 and 11:15 am.  The toddler time is for ages 18 - 36 months and meets Tuesday at 10:15 and 11:15 am and Wednesday at 10:15 am. Our pre-school storytime is for kids 3-5 years old and gathers at 11:15 am on Wednesday. Summer Volunteering

It’s that time of year again! The Maud Marks Branch Library is currently accepting applications for summer volunteers. They are available at the information desk and you must be entering 6th grade or older. If you haven’t volunteered during the 2009-2010 school year you need to attend orientation. There are two to choose from: Tuesday, May 25 at 7pm or Thursday, June 3 at 3pm. Thanks for helping out!

Celebrate the Asian Cultures!

Are you looking for something FUN to do with your mother over the weekend?  Come to the Maud Marks Library for our annual Asian Pacific Heritage Festival.  We will be celebrating many of the diverse cultures of Asia and the Pacific Rim on May 8, 2010 with a day long party running from 10 AM - 4 PM.  We will have a bonsai demonstration, Japanese Tea Ceremony, sushi demonstration, belly dancing demonstration, a Vietnamese dragon dance, plenty of kids crafts and so much more.  This is a day full of food, fun, and culture for people of ALL ages.  For a complete schedule of the day's events, please call the Maud Marks Library.  Meanwhile, you can click here to see the fun we've had in the past.
