donate used books, dvd's and magazines @ your library!

Remember when you clean out your closets and bookcases, the Friends of the North Channel Library are GLAD to receive your no longer needed, gently used books, dvd's, cd's and magazines. These materials are placed on sale at the Book Sale which is scheduled for the first weekend of each month. All proceeds from the sales go to support the North Channel Branch Library. For example, when the Library needs furniture, books or  children's performer fees, these are paid for by the Friends of the North Channel Library. Your support of the Friends Book Sale helps us in tight economic times. Tax receipts are available upon request. Please call for more information: 281-457-1631

Halloween Craft and Costume Parade

Do you have a great costume for Halloween this year?  Then show it off at the library!  Why should October 31st be the only day you get to wear your Halloween costume?  Come to the library on Wednesday, October 26th at 4:30 pm for a Halloween Craft and Costume Parade.  Ms. Kim may also have some some yummy candy treats for all our little ghosts and goblins.  See you there!

Picture It @ Your Library

Come to North Channel Branch Library during Teen Read Week to celebrate reading for the sheer joy of it.  The theme for 2011 is "Picture It @ Your Library."   North Channel will be marking Teen Read Week with Extreme Makeover: Novel Edition.  The rules are simple: redesign the cover of your favorite novel.  You may use any media you choose to create a dust jacket for your favorite title: pastels, photograph, pen and ink, pencil, or even collage.  Drop your redesigned cover at the front desk now through Saturday, October 22.   Fill out an entry form to be entered for a chance to win cool prizes.  The drawing will be held October 25.

Looking for a few good volunteers

Do you dream in alphabetical order?  Do you have visions of books standing in a pristine row?  Then the North Channel Library needs your help!  We are always looking for eager volunteers to help us keep our shelves in order.  Our volunteers help us shelve and neaten all the books in our very busy library (and occasionally are called into action to help us with programs as you can see).  Our volunteers generally come in once a week for 2 hours and should be 14 or older.  Teens, this is a great way to earn your National Honor Society hours!  If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out a volunteer application form and ask to speak with Christina when you bring it to the library.  Any questions, please c
