Jumpstart Baby Time!

On Thursday, October 8, 2009, the North Channel Baby Storytime participated in the 2009 Jumpstart Read For The Record program.  North Channel babies joined thousands of children from around the world and the United States by reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.  Twelve children and 10 adults joined us for our contribution to the Jumpstart program.  Last year, 700,000 readers around the globe participated in the Jumpstart program.  Lots of fun was had at this special storytime.  Be sure to join us next year!

THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR

Little ones and parents, please join us on Thursday, October 8th, for a special Jumpstart Baby time. We will read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by favorite author Eric Carle. Babies and their caregivers are invited to this one-on-one interactive program. After our story, we will play with toys. We end each Baby Time session with bubbles--bubbles to watch, bubbles to POP!!

North Channel Festival Fun

Thanks to all who helped put together this year's Hispanic Heritage Festival at the North Channel Branch Library, thanks to all of the great volunteers, and thanks to everyone who attended! Some highlights from the day:

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!

Thank you for helping to make the 4th Annual Hispanic Heritage Festval held at the North Channel Branch Library such a success! We estimate that we saw over 1,000 children and adults this past Saturday! Fun was had by all: face painting and craft tables were especially popular! Ballet Folklorico danced, M.E.C.A. Mariachis sang and played, Happy the Clown entertained while Texas Edition performed and provided the sound system for our spectacular! A special thank you, also, to the local businesses who supported us and made this Festival come to life! And thank you's also to the Harris County Sheriff's Dept. for bringing Gizmo the Robot and to Bay Star Ambulance for letting the kids see the inside of their vehicle.
