Title to be discussed: The Optimist's Daughter, by Eudora Weltly. Date of meeting: Tuesday, October 12, 6:30pm. Summary: This compact, partially autobiographical novel is set in Mississippi. It explores family bonds and the relationship between love and grief. This is a Pulitzer Prize winner.

The Houston area is encouraged to read Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi between August 28th and September 30th and to participate in discussing the book. Our library will be discussing the book on Tuesday, September 14th at 6:30pm and we look forward to seeing you then.

The 2010 Reader Nation winner is Crystal Hessong. She has been a reader all of her life and especially enjoyed recording her books online. Her favorite book is the classic Watership Down because it has richly developed characters and settings. The Amazon gift card will be used for books, of course.
