Remembering

This week we remember again the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The book display we created last year featured books documenting the assaults on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the failed assault on the Capitol Building by hijacked United Airlines Flight 93. The books didn’t check out. They had checked out the previous year but last year they didn't move. That set me to wondering if we had entered a new phase in our collective grieving.

Art Explorers around the World!

The first "stop" on our artistic trek around the world is the United States! On Monday, September 10th at 1:00 pm and Tuesday, September 11th at 4:30 pm, kids will have fun learning about art forms and artists from the U.S. and painting a landscape inspired by Grandma Moses!  This program meets in the Children's Department!  Each session is limited to 20 children (2nd- 6th grade).  Call 832.559.4235 to register!

Have an Awesome School year, Students!

Welcome back to school, students!  As you're making your plans for a great year--and we know you are--remember your library. Yes, do not forget us, because we can quickly become your greatest friend. We have homework resources. When your teachers forbid you from using Google and Wikipedia, remember that they love the content that's in our databases. We have 24/7 access reference librarians to help you find whatever you need, both through our website (see "Ask a Librarian" in the top right corner of our homepage) and in person. And inside the library building we have places to study and computers to use. And books! And printers! We even have coffee and snacks. And weeknights, we're open until 9:30.

2012 Adult Summer Reading Program Winner

TOM ASRP Winner 2012

Congratulations to Gayle Jackson, winner of one of the Adult Summer Reading Program prizes! Gayle was randomly selected from the Lone Star College-Tomball Community Library customers who completed and logged their books in the 2012 Adult Summer Reading Program. A familiar face at the library, Gayle (seen at left with her daughter) is an enthusiastic reader, a member of two book clubs, and a faithful supporter of the library and its employees. With the help of her $30 Amazon gift card, she hopes to expand her reading horizons with an eReader. Congratulations to Gayle and happy reading!
