Lap Sit for Babies

Every Wednesday at 10:30 AM, babies and adults stream upstairs to find a seat on the rug in the picture book area.  They're excited to sing, bounce and clap their way through nursery rhymes, songs and motion chants.  Lap Sit lasts about 15 to 20 minutes, with plenty of time afterwards for babies to explore and play with an assortment of soft toys.  Adults enjoy this time to visit, compare their children's growth and even set up future play times.

Parents, caregivers and babies aged 3 months to 24 months are welcome.

Bluebonnet books in high demand

The Bluebonnet Books are read by most elementary school children in Texas.  West University has multiple copies of each nominated title, which are shelved on the small bookcase at the top of the stairs.  Now that school has started, the demand is great and it may seem there are no books available.  When the books are returned  they are placed on a bookcart by the checkin counter.  Check that cart first before heading upstairs.  If no titles are available, they can be requested from other libraries to ensure your student has an opportunity to read the books he/she wants.
