Writing with Light

Digital SLR Cameras & Photography for DummiesI just bought a new camera and right now I am a little overwhelmed with all its new features, choices and controls.  Thank goodness for the myriad photography guides available at our branch or elsewhere in the HCPL system, including how-to manuals and DVDs, and even website suggestions -- all to be found on the library catalog.  While searching for some answers to my questions, I also came across these novels, movies and nonfiction books on the subject of photography and photographers.

Mysteries take a look at the Universities.

The Baldwin Boettcher Branch Library Mystery Book Club will take a look at our Universities through the eyes of murder, intrigue and mayhem.  Does your favorite book take place at a University?  Did Professor Plum get murdered after his lecture in the library?  Find a book that has a setting, theme or character from an University and bring it to our Mystery Book Club.  Present it to the group so we may expand our reading experiences.  Join the Mystery Book Club on September 15th at 2 pm.  We always have a good time talking about our favorite authors, books and of course food.  Help us decide which subject will be good for October.  See you on the 15th of September at 2 pm.

Summer Reading at Baldwin Boettcher

Summer Reading at the Baldwin Boettcher Library was a grand success.  Our Children's Librarian, Nancy Rodriguez, kissed a cow.  A few of our young participants were "hugged" by a very large snake.  It goes without saying we ate really well.  Snacks have been provided by the Friends of the Baldwin Boettcher Library.  Adult programming had some taste testing and Domino's pizza provided the experience of a life time with two pizza parties.

The Baldwin Boettcher Library presented 61 programs; entertaining 2149 participants.  Due to budget constraints the Friends of the Baldwin Boettcher Library foot the bill for costs.
