The Fabulous '50s

Malt StationThis past week the staff at the Barbara Bush Branch Library hosted a luncheon for its volunteers. Like every year, the luncheon had a theme and this year's celebrated The '50s. The outfits, music, and cuisine (Chocolate malts, anyone?) all represented that fabulous decade. You can checkout some pictures on Flickr.

The luncheon is held to thank our volunteers for the tremendous work they do for this library and the community. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, then learn more here.

We will show a film from 1937 starring Greta Garbo, Robert Taylor and Lionel Barrymore.

“Life in 1847 Paris is as spirited as champagne and as unforgiving as the gray morning after. In gambling dens and lavish soirees, men of means exert their wills and women turned courtesans exult in pleasure. One such woman is Marguerite Gautier.”

The 2014 the Senior Classic Movies will be held on the first and third Fridays of the month at 10:00 through the summer.

Bring a friend. Licensing restrictions prevent us from promoting the title of the movies. Call 281-376-4610 for information.

Watercolor Fun!!!

What do you say, should we play with some colors one day? Would you like that? I think you would. Let’s get together on April 29th 2014 @ 4:30 pm in the Robin Bush Activity Room here at Barbara Bush Branch Library. I hope you all come because we are surely planning some fun with watercolors!

Having Fun with Munnies

Barbara Bush MunnyA big thanks goes out to InsomniaVGC for providing the Munny display this month in our lobby. All month customers have been taking a moment to take it all in. If you are not familiar with Munnies, then just imagine blank canvases in the shape of action figures. How cool is that? One of the artists even did a Barbara Bush! Of course she has a book in her hand.

As a bonus InsomniaVGA and Kidrobot have teamed up to provide a MICRO MUNNY to those 16 or under for FREE! Just visit the Children’s Department to get one. Supplies are limited. One per person. The recipient must be present.
