We need volunteers!

Patron Count Week is coming up and we need volunteers to count the number of people who come to our library from Monday, March 14 through Saturday, March 19. Each shift is one hour long but you are welcome to sign up for more than one hour. You may also sign up for multiple days! Volunteers must be between the ages of 14 and 104.

Spread the word to anyone who might be interested in lending us a hand. Kids, this is a great way to get volunteer hours for your club at school or to beef up your scholarship application. Or if you're just bored at home, flip through a magazine or book while helping us tally up the library folk. Grab a friend and help us count!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Theodor Seuss Geisel was born on March 2, 1904. He wrote and drew many children's books under the pen names Dr. Seuss, Theo LeSieg, and Rosetta Stone. Today is also the annual date for National Read Across America.

Dr. Seuss' Birthday

Mr. Victor will be reading stories today at the library (storytime started at 10:30 a.m.) and schools in the area dressed up as the Cat in the Hat.

Come by the library and pick up your favorite Dr. Seuss books!

It's not too late

We've already sent our "Texans Love Libraries" post cards to the legislators but you can still let them know that you do not want library funding to be cut 93%. The budget cuts that affect public libraries the most are TexShare Online Information, Loan Star Libraries, and Telecommunications Discounts. Loss of the telecommunications discounts would cost our library system over $377,000!

The following link allows you to e-mail the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and your State Senator and State Rep all at the same time:

Giddy Up, Pardner!

Howdy, Pardners!  It's that time of year for the rodeo, so get your western wear duds out, polish up your boots, and put on your hat, saddle up and mosey on down to the library to browse our new display of picture books about cowboys--"Giddy Up, Pardner!"  Happy Reading!
