Girl Scout IP:EJ! "Eco-Action" Opens on 3/18

The Clear Lake City-County Freeman Branch Library is offering the continuation of the Girl Scout “Interest Project: Exploration Journeys!” program on Monday, April 18th at 5:00 pm. The workshop will feature work towards the “Eco-Action”Interest Project as well as some of the Journey Assets. Participants will meet in the Marge Jacobson Community Room.  Light refreshments provided by Friends of Freeman. The workshop is free but registration is required.

This Friday @ your library

The under50over Program invites adults of all ages to under50over this Friday, March 18th at 10:30 am. We look forward to a presentation from Toni King; popular author of Medicare and Health Insurance Survival Guide. She will talk about the “ABC’s of Medicare; The Drug Plan and How to Avoid the Donut Hole.” She will be available to answer questions during the program.This presentation will take place in the Marge Jacobson Community Room on the first floor of the library. Light refreshments are provided by the Friends of Freeman.

"Beneficial And Destructive Insects In The Garden" Discussion this Friday

The under50over Program invites adults of all ages to under50over this Friday, March 11th at 10:30 am. We look forward to Master Gardener Donya Camp’s discussion on “Beneficial And Destructive Insects In The Garden.” Ms. Camp will present a power-point and bring examples of insects for us to see. This presentation will take place in the Marge Jacobson Community Room on the first floor of the library. Light refreshments are provided by the Friends of Freeman.

Books Alive! Week Returns Next Week

Get your calendars ready!  We have several exciting programs planned in the Children's Department for Books Alive! Week -  March 14-18.   Books Alive! Week is sponsored by the Friends of Freeman Library.  Each year during Spring Break, we have a special afternoon program in addition to our regularly scheduled storytimes.  Our storytimes and Family Night will have a Spring theme this week.  Here's a description of the Books Alive! Week programs.

Monday, March 14 - Movie Break 2:30 pm - Join us for a classic family movie.  Snacks will be provided.  Tickets are required.  They are available from the Kids Information Desk starting 30 minutes before the program.

Tuesday, March 15 - 1:00-3:00 pm - Get your face painted, grab a balloon animal, and visit with Clifford the Big Red Dog.  No tickets are required for this event.

Texas Association of Original Doll Artists

Freeman Library is lucky to have the Texas Association of Doll Artists (TAODA)'s Storybook Doll Exhibit on display in our lobby.  TAODA has been in existence for over 10  years, and its members have been displaying their storybook dolls in area libraries since 2001.  They have displayed both their storybook dolls and other exhibits in Houston's Heritage Society Museum, the Heritage Museum in Montgomery County, and the Houston International Quilt Festival's Storybook Exhibit just to name a few.  The dolls and the books on which they are based are both on display in our lobby.  I was excited to see one of my favorite books as a c
