Storybook Opera coming in February

Children and families are in for a treat in February when Houston Grand Opera brings two Storybook Opera programs to Freeman Library.  These programs are designed for children of kindergarten through second grade age.  They use music to tell the stories behind two favorite storybooks: Opera Cat by Tess Weaver and Westward Ho, Carlotta by Candace Fleming.

The first program will be Opera Cat on Tuesday, February 1 at 1:30 pm.  Opera Cat is the story of a cat named Alma who loves to sing.  Alma takes center stage on opening night after her mistress, Madame Soso, comes down with laryngitis.

Freeman Teen Advisory Board

monkeying aroundAre you opinionated? Are you creative? Do you want to earn volunteer hours? Do you like food? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you’re the perfect candidate for the Teen Advisory Board (TAB). Our next meeting is Monday, January 31 @ 4:30 pm in the first floor Meeting Room.

What exactly is TAB, you might ask? The Freeman TAB provides an excellent leadership opportunity to local teens who provide input on Library programming and events, Library materials, and marketing. TAB members also participate in special volunteer and community-oriented projects.
