A book club can be a great thing. If you don’t believe it, there are some outstanding books you can read about book clubs, like Angry Housewives Eating Bon-bons [2]and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society [3]. A book club gives you a chance to spend time with people that are a lot like you, or people that are interesting to talk to because they’re different from you. We have a group that was organized through the Fairbanks Library but meets at a restaurant each month instead of meeting at the library. If you’re interested in joining us or starting your own group, you can look at the branch Events Calendar [4] or the Friends of the Library bulletin board to see what we’re currently reading or you can read my 6/27/12 blog post [5] for a list of the books we’ve read in the past. In addition, HCPL’s web site has a book club page [6] with information about what book clubs at the various other libraries are reading. [Clipart © Microsoft.]
