All branches have photocopiers and printers.
To print, you must use a print card. Cards cost $1 and may have a credit. Additional funds may be added to the card at any time.
Printing and copying costs may vary at Cy-Fair, Tomball, and TMC libraries.
Harris County Public Library branches offer a variety of equipment to the public. All branches offer Internet Access, the Microsoft Office Suite, Online Library Catalog access, and photocopiers. Other available equipment varies by branch  but may include:

The Atascocita, Freeman, and North Channel branches offer Kurzweil Equipment for the visually impaired. Each branch is equipped with a computer and scanner and special software that aids the visually impaired with computer use.
Materials that are not available in the Harris County Public Library collection can be requested through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) at any of our branches. To request an ILL, you must have a valid HCPL library card. Items must be 6 months past the publication date to do interlibrary loan. You can also make ILL requests online .
It may take up to several weeks for the item to arrive. Some materials may not be borrowed due to restrictions by the owning libraries or state ILL guidelines. These restrictions as well as fees are beyond the control of HCPL. Please see the Interlibrary Loan Policy  for additional information.
HCPL is also part of the Texshare network through which you can check materials out from other participating Texas libraries. You can obtain a TexShare card at any of our branches. You will need your HCPL library card and proof of mailing address (e.g. drivers license, ID, or bill).
Library cards  are free for everyone. You must provide proof of your mailing address when applying for a library card. Parents must sign the library card application for children under 18 years of age.
Literacy & English as a Second Language programs , for adults, are held at many of our branches. Please contact your local branch or call or email the literacy coordinator at 713-749-9035 for more information.

Purchase Suggestion  - Do you have a title you would like to see in the library's collection? Make your suggestion through this online form . You can suggest all media types, CD's, DVD's, Videos, and of course books. Use the Digital Title Purchase Suggestion form  for eBooks & eAudio.
Meeting rooms are available to the public at most library locations. Please see the Meeting Room Policy  for information on using the meeting rooms.
Through My Account, in the catalog, customers can view their checked out items, renew items, suspend holds, and view their profile. Alternately, users can call the automated telephone circulation service  at 713-747-4763.
Free proctoring services for individuals are offered at most branch libraries. The proctoring guidelines  cover what HCPL is able to provide. Please contact your local library  to determine availability.
Summer Reading Program  - This annual event encourages reading through an incentive program. It is offered to children, teens, and adults.
Continuing Education programs for adults are offered on a wide variety of topics from how to start a business to gardening. Check your local Library for upcoming programs .
Computer classes are offered at many branches in the system. Classes are offered on a variety of topics including computer basics, MS Office Suite, Internet, and Email and are conducted by Technology Training Assistants, staff members, or volunteers. Storytime – Offered weekly at all branches for children ages 3-5 years. These programs promote reading through stories, crafts, songs and puppets. Some branches also offer story times for toddlers, infants, and school age children. See our Events Calendar for a list of storytimes this month.
Reference services are offered in person and by telephone at each of our branches . In addition, the eBranch offers the Ask a Librarian  service, an email and chat reference service you can access 24/7.
Reader's advisory is offered in person and by telephone at each of our branches . In addition, the Book Hunters! Your Personal Reading Consultants Service  prepares and emails personalized book lists to customers.
Book Newsletters on a variety of topics including bestsellers, new fiction, children's titles, nonfiction, and DVDs are offered by email. Sign-up today .
Volunteers help taxpayers prepare their returns during tax season.
Harris County Public Library participates in the TexShare Library Program  sponsored by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission . The TexShare Library Card Program provides free reciprocal borrowing privileges to registered borrowers of member libraries, academic and public. In addition, many of the databases  on the HCPL website are made avilable through TexShare.
Library volunteers work side by side with staff in every Library activity. There is an ongoing need at most branches for help with a variety of projects. For more information, see our Volunteer page and fill our an application for your local branch today.
Harris County Public Library has Wireless Internet Access  in all 26 branch libraries across Harris County. Library users with wireless-ready laptop computers can bring their own laptop PCs with them to any branch library and log on to the Internet. There is no charge for using the Library’s high-speed network connection.
