On the Shelf: The Necklace: Thirteen Women and the Experiment that Transformed Their Lives

I wasn't sure I'd like The Necklace: Thirteen Women and the Experiment that Transformed Their Lives [2]by Cheryl Jarvis, but the reviews I’d read had been good. I was also intrigued by the premise - thirteen wealthy-ish women pool their resources to purchase a very expensive diamond necklace.

 

My first thought, as I opened the book was dismissive – divas with too much time on their hands and money to burn. By the end of the first chapter, I began to realize how wrong I was.

 

I loved the camaraderie of these women, their kindness to each other and to others in their Ventura, CA community, and the fun they had (and continue to have) with the necklace they named Jewelia (too cute!). I'd love to have these women for friends. They are wealthy (not to mention generous and supportive) in ways that can’t be measured in dollars and cents.

 

I highly recommend their heartwarming, life-affirming story.
