Harris County Public Library is always looking for good volunteer literacy and ESL tutors. Literacy tutors teach adults to read in a one-on-one arrangement. ESL tutors teach English to adults, one-on-one, in small groups, or in a small class. Tutors go through a brief training program. The Literacy Coordinator or the branch library staff then matches them with students. There is a free literacy tutor training program coming up at the Aldine Branch Library, 11331 Airline Drive, on Saturday, October 31, from 9:00-3:30. If this is a way you would like to serve your community, please contact the Harris County Public Library administrative offices at (713) 749-9000 or your library branch.
