2010 marks 200 years since the beginning of armed conflict between the people of Mexico and the Spanish colonists for the independence of Mexico. This conflict would not end until August 24, 1821. “El bicentenario” or bicentennial anniversary marks the moment of “El Grito de Dolores.” This occurred on September 15, 1810 and is considered the official declaration of war against the Spanish government. The Jacinto City Library offers various books on the subject and we would love to welcome the public to come and explore one of the defining moments of our neighbors to the South.
