Since the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo is now in progress (and running through the 21st), this seems like a good time to highlight some good rodeo related fiction. Perhaps not strickly 'westerns' in the traditional sense, they still feature cowboys (and cowgirls), horses, cattle and other livestock we all associate with the west. Enjoy!

Book one of his Rodeo Riders trilogy, received five star reviews on Amazon. The other two titles in the series, Rigged to Ride  and Final Ride , also received accolades.

A fictionalized account of the first Pendleton Roundup by master storyteller Kesey (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest). Cowboys from three different races competing for prizes in the rodeo competitions. Great characters and lots of period details.

Too professional rodeo cowboys, Cody and Lick, find that dealing with women can be more hazardous than bronc riding on a bad day. Hey Cowgirl, need a ride?  continues the misadventures of the two cowboys.
