Do more than search the catalog and request books!
Start at http://www.hcpl.net [2] Scroll down and look in the column on the left.
Under Menu:
Click on My Account/Renew [3]. Look at the books you have out or renew books.
Click on Events Calendar [4]. Then click your neighborhood branch. Did you know that you could sign up for free computer classes and other activities from your home computer? Also under Menu,
Click on Ask a Librarian or Chat [5]. Did you know that you could chat live with a librarian, even when the library is closed (this is a 24/7 service)?
Under Navigation:
Click on Meeting Rooms [6]. Did you know that you could reserve a meeting room for your group online? You will find Click on Interlibrary Loan [7]. Did you know that you could request a book or an audiobook via Interlibrary Loan from your home computer?
Tabs:
Going to the tabs across the top area of the screen, click on Books [8]. You'll find all kinds of book related information including book clubs at various branches at various times, book reviews, and lists of best sellers.
Click on the Databases tab and Databases [9]in the dropdown menu. This shows a list of library databases by category.
Click on Jobs & Careers [10]for help in your job search
Click on Education & Libraries [11] [11]to get some help preparing to take required tests for school, licenses, etc.
Click Languages [12] to learn English or to learn a foreign language.
Popular databases [9]are Genealogy, eBooks, Magazines & Journals, Kids, etc.
