So What Do You Do For A Living?

Wanted: BodyguardWhile reading the blog GalleyCat [2], I found the results of an interesting study done on Harlequin romances.  For their book, A Billion Wicked Thoughts [3], researchers Ogi Ogas and Sai Gaddam studied over 15,000 romances to find out the most popular professions of romance novel heroes. Here is the list:

 

1. Doctor
2. Cowboy
3. Boss
4. Prince
5. Rancher
6. Knight
7. Surgeon
8. King
9. Bodyguard
10. Sheriff

Although it is interesting to see the results, I think that by only using Harlequins, the results are not accurate for romances as a whole.  Do you agree?  What professions are missing?
