Banned Books Week is September 24 through October 1 this year and we already have a special display of banned books for you. This annual event celebrates the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment. According to the American Library Association website (www.ala.org [1]), Banned Books Week takes place every last week of September and "highlights the benefits of free and open access to information while drawing attention to the harms of censorship by spotlighting actual or attempted banning of books across the United States."
Here is are some of the titles that we have on display:
[2] Mockingjay [2] by Suzanne Collins
[3] A Clockwork Orange [3] by Anthony Burgess
[4] Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone [4]by J. K. Rowling
