If you are a Northwest regular, or even if you’ve dropped by in the last couple of weeks, chances are you have seen our library mascot , the woodpecker. The woodpecker has a tendency to hang out in the big tree just outside our reading area pecking at grub, and if you’re lucky, you’ll see him (or her) up close and personal, loudly but adorably pecking at our window, trying to drill his (or her) way in .
But did you know there are TWO library woodpeckers? There is no pictorial evidence of this that I am aware of, but it’s true! I have seen it with my own two eyes!
So come spend some time in our reading area, and bring your cameras. Be the first to nab a picture of our woodpecker family. And while we’re at it, let’s give them names, too!
