Dori's work is on display in the Meeting Room of the library for the next month. If you enjoy seeing talented local artists display their work, you do not want to miss her exhibit. I asked Dori to tell us a little about herself and her work.
I taught art in La Porte ISD for 20 years while I completed my Masters of Humanities in Visual Arts at UHCL in 2003. As a thesis topic was needed, I looked no further than the hidden treasures of Seabrook for inspiration. The desire to define my own journey toward growth and serenity through the language of visual expression compelled me to use the images along the path as an allegory for transformation. These are the paintings that remain from that project. The framed photos are images of the paintings that have been sold. I have had my work included in gallery shows in Galveston, Houston and Nassau Bay. I have been an active volunteer for the last 12 years as Chairman of Eco-Tourism and Open Spaces. I have passion for the nature around us and for all the wonderful people I’ve met and continue to meet on the trail.
