An article about Sylvan Beach written by La Porte Assistant Police Chief Ronald Parker, a student at the University of Houston-Downtown, [2]has been published in this year’s edition of Touchstone [3][Vol. XXXI, ©2012 The Texas State Historical Association]. Touchstone is the undergraduate research journal of the Walter Prescott Webb Historical Society, [4]the college-level educational program of the Texas State Historical Association [5].
Officer Parker’s article is entitled ‘The Romantic History of Sylvan Beach’. The photograph above, which was provided through the courtesy of La Porte Bay Area Heritage Society [6],is featured on the cover of the magazine.
Officer Parker kindly gave a copy of the journal to the library, which we have placed in our historical file on Sylvan Beach. Ask a library staff member if you would like to see the article and the file. We love our Sylvan Beach!
