Remember Ben ClaytonTitle to be discussed: Remember Ben Clayton, by Stephen Harrigan.  Date of meeting:  Tuesday, October 14, 6:30pm.  Summary: "Exiled to Texas with his grown daughter, sculptor Francis “Gil” Gilheaney is commissioned to create a statue for a man who recently lost his son in WWI. But as work on the statue progresses, secrets slowly reveal themselves and Gil’s fragile family threads begin to fray."  This is a Gulf Coast Reads selection.

As you may have seen on our website and Facebook page, this year’s Gulf Coast Reads will take place during the month of October.  Now you might ask, “What’s Gulf Coast Reads?”  Well, simply put, it’s an event encouraging residents of the Gulf Coast area to read or listen

Leaf Printing Craft in the Children's Dept!

    Tuesday, September 30th at 4:30 pm is Craft Day in the Children's Department!  Children will paint and stamp leaves to make one of a kind book marks, note cards and other assorted items.  This program is FREE and is limited to 15 children.  Required registration begins Monday, September 22nd.   Call 832-559-4235 to register!

Book Hunters in Brief #40: Banned Books Week 2014 - Graphic Novels

In Brief #40 GraphicHarris County Public Library and Book Hunters support your right to read what you want to read. The free exchange of knowledge is one of the foundations of this nation. To understand why, you need only look at a history book. The accepted idea and the unquestioned notion often turn out to be wrong for any number of reasons. What you read may not be to another person's liking, and vice versa, but both of you have the right to make up your own mind. 

October 3D Printing Orientation Now Available

Our September 3D printing orientation sessions filled up to capacity, but no worries!  We now have October sessions available.  Registering and attending one of these sessions allows you to schedule time on the printers and create objects of your own or others' making, such as this iPhone case, which can be found free on the site Thingiverse here.
