Expanded Hours at Five HCPL Branches

More time at your libraryOn June 1, 2014, customers of five Harris County Public Library branches will see an increase in their library’s operating hours. 

  • Galena Park, Northwest and South Houston branch libraries, which are currently closed on Fridays, will all be open Fridays 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Jacinto City and Stratford branches will add more weekend hours. They, along with all other HCPL locations, will be open Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

LightsOut Houston 2014

Harris County Commissioners Court has authorized County Facilities and Property Management to lead a county-wide effort, in conjunction with the City of Houston, the Greater Houston Partnership and Central Houston Inc. for LightsOut Houston.

Coinciding with Earth Week,, LightsOut Houston runs from the evening of Thursday, April 24 through Sunday, April 27. The initiative seeks to encourage energy efficiency by obtaining a commitment from building owners, operators and tenants to turn off all non-essential lights.
