Fizz, Boom, Non-Toxic Band Children's Music Concert

Join us in the Children's area on Monday, July 28th 3:00 pm to dance and sing along with a live music concert by the Non-Toxic Band. This FREE performance by Joe Romano and Susan Elliott, former Sesame Street singers and song-writers will be upbeat, interactive and engaging. All ages are welcome. Tuesday: Nature Discovery Center

Trutles on a log in a lakeNature Discovery Center is coming Tuesday at 3 PM. Come and learn all about snakes, turtles and alligators.  They even bring live animals.  To attend please pick up a free program tickets available at the information desk starting one hour before the program begins.

Westerns: Adult Genre Challenge #3

If you’re taking our Genre Challenge this is your opportunity to experience the uniquely American genre of Westerns.  Westerns started out as “dime novels” in the mid-19th century. Classic stories and writers helped invent how we imagine the Old West. The typical Western hero is the loner who rides into town, cleans things up, and rides out again.

Snakes in the Library

A live snake program will be presented by Thomas "The Snakeman" Davis of Barmolly's Place. Come learn more about our reptilian friends Thursday, July 31 at 2:00 pm.  This program is recommended for children 6 and older and has been funded by the Friends of the La Porte Library. Sorry we cannot accommodate day care groups.

 

Mini-Comicon!

In celebration of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie release Aug. 1 our teen time will be turning into a mini-comicon this Monday @ 3.    Crafts, trivia and general geekiness will abound.  All teens 12-18 are welcome.

Science Fair Featured Scientist

Food Preservation ScienceTuesday we had the brightest minds show up for the Katherine Tyra Science Fair.  Kids worked on their own science project and then presented their results.  Congrats to our Food Preservation Scientist for her hard work!
