The Galena Park Branch pictured from the outside.

As of January 3rd, the Galena Park Branch is open to the public after being closed due to damage caused by Winter Storm Uri. While the arrival of furniture and other equipment is pending due to supply-chain issues, the soft reopening offers an opportunity for the community to have access to the same library resources they have always counted on. Visitors will notice improvements like new computers and a children’s play area. Longer hours of operation are another novelty, with the branch staying open until 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

If it has been a while since your last visit, now is the perfect time to stop by and check out what’s new.

Children’s Play Area

The children’s area offers families an opportunity to build skills needed for early literacy. Age-appropriate resources and tools are provided to encourage children to play, read, sing, talk, and write.

Growing Readers

The Galena Park Branch is happy to participate in this effort, offering a 5-week early literacy activity kit program specially designed for Little Buds (18 months – 3 years) and Little Readers (3 – 5 years).
