There is always some debate as to whether a book is "good", but everyone that I have every talked to has agreed that sometimes Hollywood really messes up a good story. In recent years, book to movie adaptations have seemed to be much more popular, and there have been some excellent adaptations (up for debate) such as Bridge to Terabithia , the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and Speed Racer (it was a manga first!). But, there have also been some incredible stinkers. For example, Eragon . The cast was as good as it possibly could have been. The scenery and special effects were superb. But the script, oh my, the script. Whoever cut the and pasted Christopher Paolini's novel should be shot! The director even did a Star Wars tribute scene. Eragon was standing on a hill, his leg propped up with his arm resting on it mirroring Luke's scene at the beginning of Star Wars: A New Hope . There are other extremely bad films but I won't go on. This blog could easily turn into a rant on the horrors of book adaptations. What do you think is the worst adaptation?
